According to The American Physical Therapy Association, inadequate physical activity results in an added $117 billion in health care costs in the U.S. and leads to reduced quality of life for millions of Americans.¹ Therefore, this October, National Physical Therapy Month has the theme of promoting physical activity.
The physical therapy community can contribute in unique ways to help people get moving. How so?

As ChoosePT brings out, physical therapists are movement experts who improve quality of life through prescribed exercise, hands-on care, and patient education. After making a diagnosis, physical therapists create personalized treatment plans that help their patients improve mobility, manage pain and other chronic conditions, recover from injury, and prevent future injury and chronic disease.²
And the benefits of physical therapy are many!
In some instances, physical therapists can assist their patients to manage pain and thus avoid pain medications such as opioids and the serious side effects these can cause. Also, surgeries might be prevented with such conditions as rotator cuff tears and spinal issues by working with a physical therapist.³
Graham-Field is here to help. We offer items such as Thera-Putty and Exercise Pulley sets, shown at right, to assist the physical therapy community and the patients they serve.
So we join in celebrating National Physical Therapy Month.
Thank you to the therapists, their assistants, and others that take such good care of us when a physical therapy need arises.
