We at Graham-Field would like to to join in and say thank you to Physician Assistants!
October 6-12th of every year is National Physician Assistant Week, and this year’s theme is PAs are Essential. Amid the global pandemic, this theme is appropriate; along with so many other healthcare workers, Physician Assistants have been at the forefront of the COVID-19 response, putting their health and safety at risk to care for their patients.
What should we know about Physician Assistants?
There are currently about 140,000 Physician Assistants in the U.S., according to the American Academy of Physicians Assistants (AAPA), established in 1968.¹ AAPA states that Physician Assistants diagnose illness, develop and manage treatment plans, prescribe medications, and often serve as a patient’s principal healthcare professional. In fact, according to a 2014 Harris opinion poll, 93% of the patients polled said that PAs are trusted healthcare providers,² establishing Physician Assistants as a vital part of the healthcare field.

Thank you, then, to our health hero PAs, for what you do for not only your patients but for the doctors and healthcare facilities that you assist each day.
We are grateful for you and happy to celebrate your week with you!
