How can we begin to count the ways nurses make a difference in our lives? They are trusted advocates who ensure that patients receive quality care and services. Nurses are diligent workers who are among the first responders in public health emergencies. Nurses are our neighbors, our friends, and our relatives.
This year, we celebrate National Nurses Week from May 6-12th. A celebration rich in history, the first National Nurses Week observance in October of 1954 marked the 100th anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s mission to Crimea. The yearly commemoration took different forms over the years with US presidents Nixon and Regan issuing proclamations honoring nurses. Finally, the dates of May 6-12th became a permanent celebration in 1994 [1].
What an honor and a privilege Graham-Field has in supporting our nurses! From stretchers offering a single patient platform, to lifts that assist in providing safer patient transfers, we are happy to offer important tools to help nurses more easily do their jobs.
